Teenagers both
use library services and volunteer their time to support the library.
The Teen Library Council,
a group of student representatives from Santa Clara secondary schools, meet
monthly to advise the Teen Librarian on library services for their age group.
They also plan programs and events, such as the annual summer "Teen Read"
and "Poetry Open Mike Night,"and publish a newsletter, "Perspectives."
Teens contribute hundreds
of hours of their time to the library each year. They form the core volunteer
group for the Read Aloud Partners Program, as well as assisting with special
events and many support tasks at the library.
Monthly programs for
teens include book discussion groups, art workshops, and movie nights.
